The glazes are anti-toxic, as they do not present harmful substances such as cadmium, lead or any other harmful metals.

The products of Faria & Bento are certified 100% by the authorities of the American FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION (FDA).

Every article is jasperware is microwave-proof, dishwasher-safe and oven safe. We advise however to avoid excessive thermal chock when using the pieces in the traditional oven. We do not recommend the use of our ware in direct flame.

Based on ceramic materials consisting in large degree of components manually assembled by skilled artisans, it is important to adhere to some simple precautions and maintenance rules to insure the durability of each product. We recommend that you:

Avoid thermal shock - After product's removal from the refrigerator or from freezer, it is particularly advisable to bring product to room temperature prior to its placement into oven

Never use on direct or indirect flame.

Be careful, especially on mat surfaces, with the quality of the cutlery, once low quality stainless steel creates metal marks.

As is characteristic of all ceramic products after prolonged years of usage a "relaxing effect" of the glaze may become evident. The correct application of our recommended usage however will retard the occurrence of this phenomenon for a long period of time.

All pieces are glazed and entirely hand-decorated - any slight difference of colour or decor, which may be, visible is a fine quality and not considered a defect.

Each object is an exclusive in itself, an individual creation developed by craftsmen who pass on the antique heritage of ceramic art from generation to generation.
